NJASK reading/writing

The NJ ASK reading and writing was easy to me. With the writing section of the NJ ASK I used the different types of essays that we learned  to help me and those skills really helped me. Since I did soem many essays in class I knew what type of essay to use for every prompt. Also I knew what qoute I should of used for every essay because we learned qoutes in class.With the reading section I used the skills i learned and it really helped me. I used skills like skip it and go on. Because of the skills I learned it made the NJ ASK easier.

How quotes inspire people

           When someone makes a mistake they keep trying until they do it right.  "Fall down seven times, stand up eight." (Japanese Proverb)When somethings goes wrong try again until it is done write. Also when someone wants to give up they shouldn't. If they give up they will never learn from their mistakes, but if they kept trying they could succeed.
          Never giving up is the thing everyone should do. As a student, I have experienced this. With my homework or classwork if it got to hard to do I wanted to stop doing that and start on something else. But then I thought of of what the Japanese Proverb said. Always try, even if you mess up try again because that is the only way you learn how to do things. Also what the Japanese Proverb can effect the society in many different ways.
        Quotes can inspire many different people in many ways. Martin Luther King Jr. was one of these people. He tried to stop the separation of how people were and how they looked. At first no one agreed to his idea they liked how they lived. After a while people started to think that his idea was something that needed to happen. Instead of Martin Luther King Jr. giving up he kept trying until people liked his idea and it was changed. No matter how long it takes for someone top try something they should never stop. They should keep trying.
           Quotes can inspire many people. It can inspire you to keep trying and never give up . As the Japanese Proverb said " Fall down seven times, stand up eight."  Never stop trying because if you do you can never learn from your mistakes and you will never learn how to do that certian thing you gave up on. No matter how long it will take for you to learn how to do that thing always keep trying becuase soon enough you can learn how to do that certian thing that you never could do before.
            

Homework

           Homework is never the highlight of some peoples day. Homework is not that fun to do. But sometimes homework can help you with school. Lastly homework takes time at out your time with friends. Homework isn't always the greatest thing to do.
        Homework isn't always the greatest thing to do. Firstly, you have do figure out what to do first. Secondly, you have to find out the answers which sometimes can  take time .Lastly, if you can figure out the answers sometimes people go crazy. Some people say homework isn't that hard. But the truth is that homework can be very hard. But sometimes homework can help you.
        Homework has its upsides and downsides.Homework actually can help some people with their school work. If someone was having troubles with what they were learning they can understand better by doing homework. Also homework gives you xetra help. People that say homework helps them can be right but some people thnik that homework doesnt help them at all. Sometimes homework can watse your time.
          Time with friends is important to some people. If your friend wanted to go to the park with you, you  have to make sthe choice. Finish your homework or go and finish it later. Kids like to play with their friends and not stay home and do homework. Because of kids friends amking them want to come play with them they would go like any other kid.
        Homework isnt the best thing to do. Homework isnt fun but sometimes it can help you. Lastly, kids having time with their friends is sometimes more important to them then homework. Homework isnt always the best but some homework can be good.
        

School Uniforms

Dear Superintendent O’Malley,  

“Only our individual faith in freedom can keep us free” (Dwight D. Eisenhower) The Board of Education is going to make every grade have a uniform. This is not right because students should be able to wear whatever they want too. Students should be able to dress the way they want too. Uniforms wouldn’t help students focus more in school. Also uniforms sometimes cost too much money.  

Kids should be able to dress the way they want too. Students should have an opportunity for self-expression. Dressing different is one way kids can express theirselfs. If students didn’t express theirselfs no one would be different. Students can be individual when having different clothes. That’s why at first schools didn’t wear uniforms. People that have different ideas about uniforms say that uniforms help kids work together better. Even with uniforms students still will focus the same as they always do. This is why students should have an opportunity to self-expression.

Uniforms aren’t as great as people think they are. Uniforms wouldn’t help students focus more on school work.  Teachers say students would focus more on what they are wearing, but they would still focus the same as they always did. If uniforms don’t fit right students would focus more on that because the uniforms are bothering them. People think uniforms help students focus more on school work, But with or without uniforms kids would still focus the same as before. This is why uniforms are good for students trying to work better in school.

Cost of uniforms can sometimes be pricey. Sometimes uniforms cost too much money. Students sometimes can’t get their school uniforms because they cannot afford it. Also parents have to wash clothes everyday and they would raise their electricity bill a lot. People say uniforms aren’t that big of a deal. But people are spending more money because of this. Uniforms can be problems for some parents.

Being individual makes us different. Kids should have an opportunity to self-expression. Uniforms aren’t as great as people think they are. Lastly, cost of uniforms can be sometimes pricey. The board of Education would not be helping kids by making students wear uniforms.

Everyone wants a new and cool toy and food that they can use in their everyday life. If someone bought Waffle Man, they can make millions of dollars because this is want people want.  Waffle Man is the newest coolest thing ever. Waffle Man is food and a toy, just what people want. Waffle Man is for all ages and Waffle Man has almost all the things people are looking for.

Waffle Man is food and a toy. Because Waffle Man is this people are able to eat Waffle Man. People also can play with Waffle Man, like most kids do with food. And people can do two things at once with Waffle Man. Amazing right? There are other reasons too.

Waffle man is for all ages. Everyone can enjoy Waffle Man. It’s not just for kids, Waffle Man is for adults too, and Waffle Man is non-toxic. That means the littlest of kids can have Waffle Man. Now the name Waffle Man is stuck in peoples mind right? But there’s more.

Waffles have been around for 2,000 years! Waffles have been famous for those many years! That’s amazing!  Waffles have been loved by people for 2,000 years! If waffles have been one of peoples favorite breakfast foods, that means they will love Waffle Man. By now, Waffle Man sounds pretty interesting right? But wait, there’s more.

Waffle Man isn’t childish, he’s for everyone. Adults can have Waffle Man if they really want too. No one needs to be made fun of because if Waffle Man is cool to you nothing matters.  It also brings pleasure back into adult’s life’s again. Buying my product sounds like a good idea right? Dear Disney channel editors,
                                             If you are looking for a new commercial to show on TV and you want it to appeal to kids every age I had the commercial for you. I have invented Waffle man for kids all ages. I combined some of kids favorite breakfasts which are pancakes, french toast, waffles. If I had my commercial on when kids all ages and their parents were watching my commerical they would want to get this amazing food/toy. I would be delighted if you showed my commercial on Disney channel.Thank you!

My Favortie Commerical

I Like a  lot of different TV commercials. If I had to chose one I would chose the one with the pig that cried WWWEEE! I liked sometimes about this commercial and somethings I didn't like. One thing I did like was the pig crying WWWEEE all the way home. Another thing I liked how he was screaming out the window then the mom in the car told him it was his stop. What I didn't like was that they really didn't get to the point of the how commerical until the pig got home. If I could give them some  comments I would say to say the whole point of the commercial faster.This is what I didn't like and liked about this commercial.

Career Unit

There was somethings I loved about this career unit. Something that I liked was being able to find out all of the things we will go through when we get older and we csn be prepared. Also getting interviewed by our princiable showed us all the things I had to do the help me get the interview.  In addition to that I also liked the talk I had being interviewed because i got to have a nice talk.
The things I didnt like was doing all the work. Sometimes it was hard and sometimes it was easy. Also when there was so many answers you didnt know which one was right. This is what I liked about the interview and what I didnt like.

Do people learn less because of technology?

Most people learn less because of technology. I think this because Back then we didnt have all of this stuff we have today. How people communited is by talking on the phone and writing letters. Today we can text message, call people, and e-mail. By using these things people learn less because they use computers to help them figure out things while, a long time ago, they had to figure out things on thier own. This is why I think people are learning less.

Hi my name is Shelby. I go to Herbert Hoover Middle School. What I do like about middle  school is that you don't always have to stay in the same class all day long. What I do like about English is that we sometimes have fun when we do work and sometimes we get prizes. What I don't like about English is the working part. I like to do gymnastics and swimming. My weaknesses are sometimes in school and so are my strengths. A few things I think you should know that I have two pets a dog and a chinchilla. A chinchilla is like a bunny not a rat. I love to be round animals. Lastly, I would like to be a vet when I get older.  Now on to my English class. When ever we have a extra day off or a snow day it messes up what my teacher planned out. Besides those days the rest are fine. The things I like about English that we do do are when we get to work with partners because it helps make what you are doing easier. I don't always like working by myself. That is really all you need to know about my English class and about me.

Careers

There a lot of careers you can choose from. Sometimes there is only one career that stands out to you that you really want to do. There is only one career that stands out to me. That is  being a veterinarian. I would like to be a vet because I love being around animals. Being around animals always gives you something to do. If I became a veterinarian I could always be around animals. For some careers you need a collage degree. To be a veterinarian you need a collage degree as well. The collage I would go to to get my collage degree would be Rutgers. I would choose Rutgers because it is a good collage and it has some sports activities that I do. If I am able to get my collage degree I would be able to do any career I want to do.

New Years Resolutions

 The start of New Years is always time to make new resolutions. This year, my first resolution is to work harder to help me get on the all “A” Honor roll. I know if I work harder I can get on the all “A” Honor roll because we ever I try harder I get a better grade. I plan to do this by handing all of my assignments on time. My second resolution is to raise my hand.When ever I want to say something or ask a question I say it out loud. How I plan to do this is by whenever I would like to speak I try and remember to raise  my hand. If I can complete  my goals, I am certain I wont get in trouble at all for speaking out loud and not handing in my assignments.

Is Santa Claus real or fake?

     People say Santa Claus is real. Is he really real or is he fake? When people are younger you believe he is real.If someone ever came up to you and said he is fake you would be really upset. Then you would start to believe them and wonder if they are right. Some people think he is fake. Sometimes when people think he is fake and have no chirstmas spirrt.
     Who knows if he is truly real or is he is truly fake. No one will never no the real answer. You can think you  know the right answer but you dont. The world may never know the truth about Santa Claus. If we never will know is Santa Claus is real or fake would everyone still fight about who is right? Is there a real Santa Claus?

history about thanksgiving

Thanksgiving started by the Pilgrims and the Indians. The Pilgrims came on the May Flower and they weren't ready to face the long winter ahead. The Indians already lived near by so they helped the Pilgriams get food for the winter. After they all got food they decided to have a feast, it was their dinner together in Charlestown, Massachusetts. The Turkey was a main food in the meal but they also had fruit and corn. The first Thanksgiving dinner lasted three days. Today Thanksgiving is meant to celebrate for all of the things people are thankful for.

What I am thankful for

I am thankful for a lot of things. I am thankful for my family. I am thankful for my mom for always being there for me. I am thankful for my dad for being there for me when my mom cant. I am thankful for my siblings for always cheering me up. I am also thankful for my grandpa for making the whole family feel better when everyone is down. I am very thankful for my family.

Halloween

At first my cousin and I wanted to be something the same but we couldn't decide what to be. We thought about a few things but we  were already it or we didn't like the idea.Then it hit me I thought we should be bumble bees. So when my mom went to go and get my costume and my cousin's costume. When she came back she got us an ice cream cone costume instead. Even though that was not what we wanted we still liked it. In school everyone loved it so we thought it was a pretty cool costume. It made my cousin and I very happy when people told us that they liked it a lot because my cousin and I didn't like it that much  so it cheered us up. We had a very fun Halloween.

Veteran's day

Veteran’s day is a whole day dedicated to men and women who served our country by fighting in a war. It is very important to honor these brave men and women, especially the ones who died. They gave the most of themselves.

At first, Veteran’s day didn’t honor all veteran’s that served in all wars. It was only to honor those who served in World War I. In other countries people started to get angry about this. They felt it should be about all Veteran’s who served in all wars, so they started a war. Along came a new president who ended the war by changing the name to Veteran’s day. This included all men and women who served in all wars, not just World War I.

                The reason they came up with Veteran’s day was when men returned from World War I on November 11 at 11:00 O’clock in the morning. Our president at the time felt we should honor these men for the sacrifices that they made.  Especially for the men who didn’t return home alive. They gave the most of themselves, their lives. This is why on every Veteran’s day they hold special ceremonies around the world to honor all Veteran’s. Some of the celebrations are happy events like parades, and special dinners. And others are very sad, like when the President of the United States of America place a large wreath on the tomb of the unknown soldiers. This is a burial place for which people who served in a war whose remains could not be identified.

                Veteran’s day is very important, men and women from all around the world everyday give so much of themselves on a daily bases. They fight for me and the freedoms I have each day. Sometimes they give more than they should have to. They sacrifice their own lives so their families, friends, neighbors and people who don’t even know them can live freely.

" When I rubbed my eyes the itching got worse and worse..... by the end of one Little League game my eyes were nearly swollen shut." He did care what happened he just cared about playing baseball.

" A lost sole sunk forever at the bottom of a swamp." Here Ralph Fletcher talked about how he left behind his sneaker so Marshfield can still remember him.

" Then I guess they drift away from each other." Here he talks about how him and his dad are dirifting away from each other.

Chirstmas

Every Christmas my most of my family comes over and we celebrated Christmas together. Someone from my family,( usually the adults that are boys), dress up as Santa Claus and makes us do what ever a Santa Claus anywhere else would. After everyone has got here everyone started to talk to each other and then  we eat dinner. When everyone was done eating the adults sit down to watch march of the wooden soldiers, the younger boys when into my brothers room and watched tv and the younger girls went into my room and watched a movie. After a few hours everyone went back into the kitchen and had desert. There was chocolate pudding pie, and apple pie, and cookies,and cupcakes, and so much more, but we usually ask some people to bring in food. As always evryone stsats to talk again. When we look at the clock it was 8 and that meant it was time to open up presents. Of course the ladys went first, ( and then the boys). Everyone got lots and lots of presents. At 11 evryone said good bye and then went home. When everyone was going my hole family, ( that lived with me), went to sleep.
